Puyallup River opens August 15th!

Ready for some combat fishing? With the Puyallup only days away from opening, this is the weekend to get your gear setup, and leaders tied. The fish are already in the system, and should be in pretty good by next weekend. There are already quite a few kings in voights creek hatchery.

Long leaders will rule the day for the next couple months, and I'm sure ill do some of that as well, but this year for me will be all about black. Black spinners and black jigs will be my go-to lures while the water is muddy thru September.

The other thing to keep in mind - Only two pinks per day will be allowed this year.

    1. I don't think last year was closed...I remember catching chum last year on a specific hole on the upper Puyallup and lower area as well

    2. It was closed for coho kings on the puyallup , not chum.

  2. Nets were in this morning... Saw a couple fish as they were being pulled into the boat. Obviously there are some fish in the river.
Good luck to everyone next week.

  4. Are you sure about the 2 adult pinks? Why does it say "Limit 6" and "2 adults max"

  5. Test netting is what I heard.

2 adult max, 6 limit. so you can have 4 jacks (kings or coho) and 2 pink adults or 2 king/coho adults, total 6.

kings are an adult 24 inches or more and coho 20 inches or more. Pinks/chum are an adult 12 inches or more. Minimum length is 12 inches.

  7. That means you can keep a mixed bag of Jack's and adults for a total of 6 fish and a max of 2 adults. For instance 4 Jack's 2 adults or 5 Jack's 1 adult or 6 jacks
