The Puyallup River will open August 1st above Freeman Road, and August 16th the entire river will be open from 11th st. bridge in Tacoma, to the mouth of the Carbon River in Orting.

There will be a closure on August 11th (tribal Chinook fishery), and a total of 14 days in September for netting. The netting will happen September 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, and 30. The river will be closed to fishing on these dates.

Here is the "EMERGENCY RULE UPDATE" from the WDFW website.

I will also block out those dates on the "WHEN WILL FISH ARRIVE" page to make it easy.

Puyallup River opening issue resolved

The issue of when the lower Puyallup will open has finally been resolved!
The news release will be sent out tomorrow, but from early indicators, it seems like a really good deal all the way around. I'll link to the news release as soon as it comes out tomorrow, but this is a blog post from The Seattle Times addressing the story.

News Conference Puyallup River opening!

This morning on the "Outdoor Line -710AM" Phil Anderson (director of WDFW) discussed the Puyallup River situation. It sounds like Tuesday, they are trying to hold a joint news conference to announce the new regulations for the lower puyallup.

This is the podcast link, and the discussion concerning the Puyallup starts at minute sixteen.

Overall, I'm really pumped about the upcoming season. I usually don't fish the opener,
but by the middle of august, it'll be in full swing.
