Lower river fish

Stopped by the river on my way home for about an hour. Hooked into something nice with a spinner, but it released after a couple good head shakes. Enough to get me going back tomorrow morning for sure.  Also saw a pic of a nice chum landed mid-river.

Morning update: I think the majority of silvers may have already moved thru (lots of reports on the carbon), and the first of the chum are trickling in. I think I must have hooked into a chum last night. If i were to try again, it would be up by the carbon/puyallup fork. I'm not ready to be done with the silvers quite yet.

Good luck

TIme to hit the lower!

I've heard multiple reports of silvers being landed in the lower river form the soccer fields up to the White River, over the last couple days. Today, the river is finally back in prime shape for fishing on the lower river, and I'm expecting it to be pretty good fishing down there for the next 7-10 days for sure.

The silvers seem to hold in the slower water just above a tailout when the water is at this height.

I won't be able to get out there till this weekend, but good luck to everyone trying over the next couple days.

High River!

The river looks to be out of shape for the next two days or so. I've never found a good spot while the hydro is reading over 12.5 ft. I'll probably do some recon, and throw a few spinners, although i think this muddy water will make it near impossible for a fish to see it! I'ver heard black, and gold spinners can work in water like this, so I'll give that a shot.

The next run of silvers should be coming into the lower river here over the next 10 days, but they don't hold down low as long as the first run in Aug-Sept. The rain over the next month usually causes them to get to the carbon a lot sooner.

Coho on the Carbon

Had an awesome morning on the Carbon River this morning.
Landed two coho on spinners, and my brother landed a nice chromer on eggs under a float.
A little bit of rain while we were on the river, but it was definitely worth it!

I made the spinners I used, which made it quite a bit sweeter. After I read Jed Davis' book last summer, I decided to make my own, and it was nice having it payoff today.

Looks like Friday and Saturday, it's supposed to pour rain!
I'm hoping the Puyallup, and Carbon are still fishable this weekend. I'm expecting a lot of fish to be shooting up thru the upper Puyallup, and Carbon heading to voights hatchery with this first rain.

Skunked on the Carbon

Hit the carbon at sunrise this morning, trying to bounce eggs along the bottom.....

I was using 15lb. mainline, 10lb leader, and it was hard getting any kind of drift thru the slow water, even with no weight..... I think my line may have been too heavy, but i'm looking for tips!

Beautiful day anyway!
Good luck
