Mid river fish!

Went up to a new spot about mid river ----beautiful in the morning... didn't see another person as far as i could see up or down river....fish jumping in multiple areas, and i couldn't get a good drift. The river was super narrow, fast, and more snags (big logs) than I've ever seen on the puyallup. If the water were clearer, I would have tried spinners, but it being so stained, I went down to 512 bridge, to see what was happening......not much. One fish landed, one foul hooked, and about 20 guys. They're moving up river! The netting schedule for the next couple weeks is from Sunday at noon, thru Wednesday at noon.....but I'll be concentrating on the upper river myself.

  2. i would try somewhere in the upper river....but not all the way up at 116th st.
anywhere above where the white river comes in to the river.

look at the maps page, and pick a bridge, because there's usually parking around them

    1. No.... Not private property. Logs all over in the river though. A little upriver from highway 162 bridge.....it was frustrating not being able to get a good drift....and the river was so narrow

  4. Wife and I started off the morning at Moma Stortinis for a bit, no action. Went up to the Carbon for a little while, no action. Stopped at 116th, fish rolling/jumping a couple times right in front of the creek but no strikes, couldn't i.d. the fish either. Ended at 5th St. with no action at all. Sad face.

Going to be in the water before sunup tomorrow...just gotta pick a spot to start off.

  5. Where are the fish at? it seems the last 3 days the soccer field is not producing any fish. People are saying the fish are pushing at night time around 7 and 8 pm. However, since the nets are in that run will be diminished. Anyone have any advice where to fish at? Perhaps closer to whiteriver?

    1. I saw fish jumping a little ways up from highway 162 bridge....I'm not getting out till next weekend, but I would try highway 162 bridge if I were going.
I don't think the fishing in the lower river is going to be good until the b run of silvers show up in October. .....I hope someone can prove me wrong, but this is what I've noticed over the last couple years. I will be fishing up river the next couple weeks.

  8. By the way. What do you know about Coho liking blue patterns? I was out at Nisqually yesterday and there was this old salt throwing and consistently catching (not flossing) with a blue and tinsel pattern. He was truely catching. Hard tip to the water strikes!! He said its what they use in the mid-west.

  9. Salmon hit blue and tinsel in the mid...... wait. Where? the midwest? Ah Nebraskan salmons. Now those are one of the toughest fish to catch if you can find em.
