Upper Puyallup silver salmon

Landed a nice coho up at the 96th st. bridge this morning....saw a big jumper at 116th st. as well.
They're in the upper river, it's just a matter of finding 'em.

Good luck!

I was using a size 14 corkie and 2/0 hook with yarn/// 6-7 ft leader.

Mid river fish!

Went up to a new spot about mid river ----beautiful in the morning... didn't see another person as far as i could see up or down river....fish jumping in multiple areas, and i couldn't get a good drift. The river was super narrow, fast, and more snags (big logs) than I've ever seen on the puyallup. If the water were clearer, I would have tried spinners, but it being so stained, I went down to 512 bridge, to see what was happening......not much. One fish landed, one foul hooked, and about 20 guys. They're moving up river! The netting schedule for the next couple weeks is from Sunday at noon, thru Wednesday at noon.....but I'll be concentrating on the upper river myself.

Getting ready for the weekend

The nets are finally out, and the river can start filling up again!
According to my journals, this should be a good weekend on the lower river.
I'm gonna drive around, and find somewhere mid river, and give it a shot. -

Good luck

Coho Kibosh

Landed a couple nice coho's this morning before 7:30
Caught on corkies and yarn at the top of a tailout. This buck hit my corkie mid-drift - Slam!

I'll be moving up river (mid-river) by this next weekend, and then moving all the way up near the carbon in a couple weeks, but the lower river is loaded with coho right now.

Silvers are thick

Netting will continue on Sunday at noon, and last thru Tuesday at noon, but there's plenty of time for fishing before that.
The lower river is turning out some beautiful adult coho's! One report of using a yarn ball, but mostly corkies and yarn is what's doing the trick.

Check out these fish landed by "Dave" on the fishing forum.

Puyallup river netting

The netting will end at noon today, and the rest of the river will be open tomorrow morning, an hour before sunrise. According to past years journals, this next week should be very good for adult coho.

Good luck out on the river....

Coho fishing on the Puyallup

Made it out to the river after a couple weeks of being unable to. Landed two nice silvers, and lost a much bigger one. Saw quite a few landed around me as well. Not too many jacks....mostly adult cohos.
Sunrise really seems to make a difference, although I'm sure fishing a big tide in the middle of the day would produce fish as well.

Slower fishing in the lower river - but get ready

The fishing has been slow on the lower river over the last half week, so most of the kings, and jack silvers have moved up river.
According to my journals, the next week should be bringing in a bunch of adult silvers, and it should last for a couple weeks on the lower river.

Good luck!

Here's a couple caught just this morning by "dave" on the fishing forum.....nice catch!

Towing at the soccer fields map

I've created a map of "towable" areas at the soccer fields. I'm hoping this helps everyone.
If you see an area I've missed, please comment, and I'll update the map.

Also, if you know of other areas along the Puyallup that fisherman's cars have been towed, I'll be making the parking areas more clear on the fishing map.

Just zoom in on the Soccer Fields on the Puyallup River Fishing Map.

Thanks in advance,
Ignorant Fisherman
