What kind of Salmon did I catch?

  1. Thanks for taking the time to post this... my son and I need all the help we can get. Your site is absolutely fantastic!

So, can we assume that we would go about fishing for silvers the same we were fishing for Pinks? I mean, long, long leaders, corky's and such?

Thanks again for all of the great information!

  2. No not necessarily.
I only use longer leaders during extreme combat fishing.
During normal times, where there's a normal amount of fishermen on the river, I'll be shortening up my leader quite a bit.

I use this page as a reference for myself. It's info I've condensed out of the book "Salmon & Steelhead Drift Fishing Secrets"

  3. Thanks for clearing up my confusion on this whole leader issue. I'm kind of a slow learner... One of the guys at work was telling me that there are times he uses a 13-15 foot leader... holy smokes! No wonder I'm confused.

I'm beginning to understand that things need to be tweaked according to the conditions. I can see that there is more to this than simply tossing a line in the water. It will take me awhile but I'm determined to learn. Thanks again and thanks for the link!
