Upper river is hot!

Lots of fish up where the carbon & puyallup meet.
I lost a nice king after a bout a 5-10 minute battle; after it made it into the rapids! AAHHH!
Landed quite a few fish, and a ton of 'em on. Overall, a fun time fishin'.

Saw two nice silvers landed -7lb

sept 24th at carbon puy. seam

  1. Nice looking fish, are those Pinks or Silvers?

  2. Well; even though people were convinced they were silvers, they were definitely pinks. I've seen so many pinks marked down as silver this year - it's amazing.

The pinks caught in the lower river have no teeth, but by the time they make it this far up, they both had some pretty nice teeth; also, the tails both had spots all the way up & down.

The coloring was a little tricky...notice the red line all the way down the 5.5 pounder.....seemed more typical for a silver.

  3. That is why I had to ask. They kind of looked like silvers but then again, they kind of looked like pinks. I couldn't see the tail... do you expect the fish to remain plentiful in the upper river or do you think the lower river will fill back in?

    Thanks

  4. They should be in the upper river for the next week or so, but i'm looking forward to the next run of silvers in the lower river. Look at the end of sep, to the beginning of oct on this page http://fishingthepuyallup.blogspot.com/p/commencement-bay.html

The b-run of silvers are much larger....8-12 lb. on average, where most of the silvers being caught so far have been in the 3-6 lb. range.

  6. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the fishing will be any good this weekend and if "yes", when and where?

    Thanks

  7. Fishing should be moderately good in the lower river, and spotty in the upper river.
Fishing one of the hot spots in the lower river should give you your best shot at some silvers.

soccer fields, safeway, fred meyer, etc...
