Next trip

Just getting back in town from vacation. The Puyallup is closed for the next couple days, but the weather & hydrograph looks like they're lining up for good conditions next Friday or Saturday....I'm going to tie leaders, & get things ready while watching the Seahawks game, because this week of work is going to be extremely busy, & I want to be ready to go, when the fish are ready to bite!

New Mainline

So....this is the new mainline I finally decided on. It's supposed to be excellent for casting, & super strong. I asked one the guys at Sportco, & he showed me this line's diameter is comparable to most other line's 10lb test product. So I should be able get a nice far cast without throwing out my back.
I use a bright green/yellow line so I can see my line through-out the entire drift. - just like the book says.

next tip

I'm going to start casting in a more accurate pattern.

I'll do either 1 foot intervals in a 9 foot square area, or two foot interval depending on water clarity.

Tips after re-reading

Just finished re-reading STEELHEAD & SALMON Drift-Fishing Secrets, while on vacation. Here's a couple new- "old" things I'm going to implement .

The length of my leader has been too long for the most part. Of course, when combat fishing, my leader length will reach all the way to six feet.

For the most part though, my leader length is going to be closer to the 2-3 foot range because I'm typically fishing while the water is muddy & that means the fisher move closer to the bottom.

Vacation

In suncadia for the week. It'll give time for the fish to come in. It's supposed to rain twice while we're out of town.

Went thursday night to white river area. No feast to speak of...ha..ha...To early in the year...no fish in the river. Only heard of one report of someone with a small silver on. I'm going to wait until the beginning of Sept. Hasn't rained in about three weeks. Reading the reports, it sounds like it's just starting to pick up in point defiance. I don't think this means i'll never go this early in the year, but only if it's been raining enought to bring the fish in.

Thursday night looks like a go!

It looks like the river level will be falling or maintaining on thursday night. If the river level is rising, or has just leveled out, according to the book, the fish are "put off the bite." So that's why i"m posting a hydrograph image of the river level everytime i go.
